We have now gone 13 games (counting all competitions) without a win in the league, but this felt like a win after Kevin Nolan snatched a point for Bolton in added time.
Left back George McCartney opened the scoring on 19 minutes with a right-footed volley after Jussi missed his punch from a corner. Soon after, Campo’s free kick went curled just wide of Rob Green’s upright. Chances fell quite evenly between the two teams, and Danny Guthrie saw his shot hit the bottom of the post, before Kevin Davies should have equalised, but sent his header just over the crossbar.
Nicky Hunt was withdrawn in the last ten minutes with a dislocated shoulder, before Kevin Nolan volleyed in the equaliser in stoppage time. Bolton remain second from bottom, but are now just 2 points away Sunderland, in 15th place.
I think overall it was a fair result, something we deserved. Kevin had a terrific opportunity and we had two cleared off the line.
To come down here and get a point in the manner we did is a big fillip. It’s a difficult place to come.
We will get better at the technical aspects but in terms of the human things, they were there in spades.
