Bolton get away point to spoil Keegan’s party

Bolton managed to get their first away point since the 4th of November as they held Newcastle to a 0-0 draw at St. James’ Park.

New signings Matt Taylor and Gretar Steinsson both started, and Kevin Nolan was voted BBC Player Rater’s man of the match.

Just going off statistics (I didn’t actually bother following the game) Newcastle marginally dominated, but Bolton could have won it in injury time - however it was Jlloyd Samuel who had the chance from 6 yards out, rather than just about any other player on the pitch, so the game ended 0-0. Bolton remain at 15th in the Premier League table.

It was a good point for us and it was a good performance - but we have still got to improve.

When we play as well as we did in the first half, we need to sustain it a lot better than we did.

We are making substitutions not because of technique but because of the fitness work we need to do.

- Gary Megson
