Transfer round up

Here is a round up of all the transfers, in and out, that Bolton completed during January:

On the 1st, Gary Speed was loaned to Sheffield United with a view to a permanent move. Speed left because he felt the need to be playing first team football at his age.

On the 3rd, winger Leslie Thompson started a second loan spell at Torquay United. Thompson is yet to feature in Bolton colours.

On the 4th, Tamir Cohen completed his move to the Reebok from Maccabi Netanya for an undisclosed fee. He has played in all 4 games since.

On the 11th, Nicolas Anelka left for Chelsea for a £15 million fee. This was a £7 million profit and Anelka is still this season’s leading scorer for the Whites.

On the 16th, Gretar Steinsson arrived from AZ Alkmaar for £3.5 million. He made his debut against Newcastle and Bolton have not yet conceded a goal with Steinsson in the defence.

On the 17th, Matt Taylor decided to brave a move up north from Pompey, for an undisclosed fee. Taylor also made his debut in the 0-0 draw with Newcastle.

On the 30th, Gary Cahill signed from Aston Villa for an undisclosed fee. Cahill is set to make his debut this afternoon against Reading.

There were four transfers on deadline day. The first one was Christian Wilhemsson switching his loan at Bolton for a loan at Deportivo La Coruna. He is officially a Nantes player.

The second departure on the 31st was Lubo Michalik. He took a strange decision to swap a first team spot in the Premier League for one two divisions lower, for an undisclosed fee.

A third loss was teenage goalkeeper Przemyslaw Kazimierczak. He joined Darlington on a free transfer. He had previously been on loan at both Accrington Stanley and Wycombe Wanderers, but had not played a game for Bolton.

The final deal on deadline day was Grzegorz Rasiak, who arrived from Southampton on loan until the end of the season. He is on the bench for this afternoon’s game.
