My god, is that two back-to-back wins?

Wanderers celebrate a vital win

Wow. We have just won away for the second time all season, and achieved two successive victories for the first time since Big Sam left!

Gavin McCann got the only goal of the game as Bolton came away from the Riverside with a deserved 3 points, at least from their second half performance.

The first half was a different matter, with Al Habsi pulling off several good saves and Bolton surviving a couple of decent penalty appeals.

After the break Bolton looked a different side, and despite another strong penalty shout they made their dominance count with Gavin McCann’s first league goal since arriving at the Reebok. He tapped the ball home after Gary Cahill’s header was saved by stand-in keeper Ross Turnbull.

Gavin McCann celebrates his first league goal for Bolton

The win sees Bolton move into 16th place - above Birmingham (who have a game in hand) and Reading.

Maybe there is a way out!

It is a big boost to us, three points away from home given the season we have had is going to be a massive boost.

It is only our second win on the road, we only had probably six points before this and we have improved that somewhat now and all the things we did poorly in the first half, because we were beholden to the fact our keeper played exceptionally well, we did a lot better in the second half.

We knew they came out the blocks much better, they got on the front foot and got the momentum after just a minute or so and we were rocking, but we stood up to it - perhaps more luck than judgement and at half-time we knew we had to step it up to win at this level, and stepped it up we did and consequently everything we did in the second half was way better than the first half.
